Cancer Psychology Service

Many people find the process of cancer treatment emotionally challenging. Sometimes feelings may become more difficult to deal with on your own and this might be when you want to ask for some extra help. You may want to talk to someone separate from your family, your medical team or your specialist nurse and this may be an option.

Your breast care nurse can confirm if this service is provided at your local hospital.

The Cancer Psychology Service in Leeds is based in the rehabilitation department in Bexley Wing. You can attend in person, online or via telephone.

They will want to hear about your experiences and discuss what kind of help you might need. Sometimes this can be specific strategies to help you get through a difficult situation and sometimes this might be a space to talk about your feelings. The person who you meet from the team can talk to you more about the options available.

If this service is provided at your local hospital and you feel that you (or a member of your family) would benefit from this kind of help, please discuss this with either your breast care nurse, doctor or other member of your medical team who can assess whether this service is appropriate for you and then help to organise a referral.
